I’m Christopher Osborne, a British artist/photographer. Last year I moved to Germany after a ten year spell in the Middle East. I am a keen traveller and have been making images around the world during this period.
I like uncertainty, people, new places, visual conundrums, bright sunlight and deep shadows. And spicy food. My unique style provides a visually intriguing and yet contemporary twist on the subject at hand.
My work is all handcrafted and produced in limited editions. I mostly shoot on film. The final medium for presentation is carefully selected near the beginning of a project to maximise the impact of the series of work. I have made bodies of work using both black and white and colour silver gelatin prints, works in cyanotype, Van Dyke Brown, salt and platinum/palladium prints.
When not making images, I curates the occasional exhibition and teach infrequent, but popular courses in darkroom practice and in the application of alternative photography processes. I am also a regular contributor to the globally prestigious acclaimed Silvergrain Classics magazine.
I wrote the “The Heiland Splitgrade Controller made Simple!”, an easy to follow guide to this very comprehensive darkroom tool.
I have an MA (photography), and am an Associate Member of the RPS (Royal Photographic Society).
There are more interesting courses in the pipeline, so if you would like to subscribe to our newsletter, then this link will take you to our secure Mailchimp newsletter sign up form.
I am planning a gallery takeover in conjunction with curator Sebastian Ebbinghaus, and if you would like to participate, then please feel free to contact us.
